Database Design
Most M&E Systems require a database.
Impact Management is able to produce the detailed data model of a database. This involves creating a data model with detailed attributes for each entity.
The first stage is to determine the purpose of the database and find and organise the information required. Once done we would then divide your information items into major entities or subjects with each becoming a table and making decisions on what information is to be stored in each table.
We can then set up the primary keys and table relationships and add fields to the tables and table relationships.
We often find the biggest problem is not specifying correctly prior to embarking on the programming. Mistakes here cause problems and significant delays to completion.
IMI can assist at any stage in the database design process. This might be to scope and design what is needed or with the programming or taking responsibility for the full job.
Databases can be simple and use Excel or Access or more involved where specialist programmers are needed.
Many organisations require web based systems and IMI is able to advise and assist on which systems and set up the full process from design to execution and training in it’s use.
